You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUIDLING) in the Data Analysis Section of the Quality Engineering Branch, Code 136.2, of the Engineering and Analysis Division in the Quality Assurance Office of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will have total responsibility for the planning, execution, and monitoring of the data analysis area.
You will develop and perform a validation system to ensure quality data is reviewed, properly categorized, and validated for accuracy.
You will develop and maintain the non-nuclear Quality Performance Index (QPI) process in the shipyard for projects and production resource shops.
You will prepare analysis reports depicting quality problems, current trends, and emerging trends/problems that require shipyard action.
You will provide support to other shipyard shops and Codes on metric development and use of the quality performance system.
You will maintain the Quality Performance System and ensure the system provides real time data and analysis information to process owners and project managers.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience understanding quality control requirements applicable to the phases of ship repair and overhaul work.
Experience presenting and reporting quality problems, trends, and developing metrics, data analysis reports, leading indicators and key performance measures.
Experience applying quality assurance principles involving investigative and analysis methods.
Experience with database management, organization, and administration to ensure the highest level of data integrity is achieved.
Experience applying engineering concepts, terminology and technical directives as related to ship components/systems and shipyard work processes.
Experience in problem identification, problem analysis, cause identification, corrective action implementation, and performing follow-up actions to ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions and lessons learned.
