You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Non-Nuclear Inspections Division (Code 133.1), of the Quality Assurance Office (Code 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop organizational plans with high-level managers for staffing and training of branch personnel. You will make or endorse recommendations for promotions, awards, or disciplinary actions as warranted. You will set performance standards for subordinates and is responsible for rating and reviewing as required.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with supporting non-nuclear inspections, material receipt inspection, and certification of work on U.S. naval vessels. Experience supervising and/or leading a team regarding the work assigned, including planning, execution, process management and resource management. Experience applying knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of shipyard repair and overhaul of complex nuclear ships and submarines. Experience interpreting and applying policies, regulations, directives, instructions, procedures, and technical documents.
