You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the METROLOGY ENGINEERING BRANCH (2321) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will calibrate, certify, and repair test equipment in accordance with Metrology Procedures and Manufacturer Repair Manuals, which covers a wide range of technologies and equipment. You will perform analysis of measurement accuracy over the life span of hardware. You will provide logistical support, configuration management, conduct spare parts analysis for the customer equipment and calibration laboratory standards, and maintain equipment recall database and test equipment/standards inventory. You will conduct engineering investigations to determine failure modes of equipment including assessment of the impact on reliability and maintainability.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying extensive practical knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of electronics and the ability to apply this knowledge to the accomplishment of complex work assignments. Experience using and calibrating phase noise measurement instruments. A basic understanding of phase noise measurement technology is required. Experience understanding electronic, electrical, electromechanical test and measurement equipment, and mechanical test and measurement equipment and its characteristics. Experience developing work products utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), and working without assistance to create and modify required work-related reports, databases, graphs, charts, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: Electronics Technical Series 0856 (opm.gov) General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate education
OR
Successful completion of a master's degree
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
