You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Project Management Branch of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND MARIANAS. This position is also subject to a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) currently set at 12.04%. COLA is subject to change without notice.

Duties

You will review, assess, and resolve complex and diverse utilities equipment and system problems, provides advice and solutions, and assists the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on technical matters You will assist in the design and planning of complex utility systems using established guidelines and engineering practices. You will install instrumentation to monitor utility system operations to identify specific problems and makes recommendations for problem resolution. You will provide technical assistance during utility construction projects and utility connections. You will make site visits to determine utility component/equipment condition and develop recommendations for repairs and equipment modification.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position is a local remote approved position. Selectee must be located within the commute area of the command upon entry to duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized Experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing electrical engineering support services in areas of utilities operations and maintenance including power generation, power distribution systems, steam and de-mineralized water plants and distribution systems.
