As an FBI Cloud Engineer, you'll stand at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and cybersecurity to ensure the integrity of complex, critical systems. Your diverse knowledge of cloud engineering platforms, tools, and solutions will enable the FBI to continue safeguarding crucial information.
Duties
Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and cloud-based solutions, leveraging modern capabilities such as containerization and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
Drive the appropriate usage of "as a service" offerings (e.g., Platform as a Service, Software as a Service) to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Modernize scientific workloads within our forensic laboratory, ensuring compatibility with cloud environments and optimizing performance.
Demonstrate knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles for building scalable and modular cloud applications, including driving the implementation of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless software delivery and automation.
Implement Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) practices and tools for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Provide serverless capabilities leveraging AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or similar technologies for efficient resource utilization.
Design and build cloud solutions on FEDRAMP Cloud environments including AWS, Azure, Oracle, and GCP.
Conduct regular assessments and evaluations, managing and optimizing cloud architecture for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to architect scalable and reliable cloud-based systems based on the requirements and business objectives.
Implement security measures and compliance standards across cloud environments.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cloud engineers.
Develop and update Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and support cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications
GS 11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 09 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Utilized established automation methodologies and technologies.
Implemented IT security measures and compliance standards.
Scripted solutions with Node.js (JavaScript), Python, Ruby, Java, Go, PowerShell, or other similar languages.
GS 12: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Applied automation solutions such as continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Implemented security measures and compliance standards and provided guidance to stakeholders.
Collaborated with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to build scalable cloud-based systems based on the requirements and business objectives.
GS 13: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Designed and implemented automation solutions such as continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Conducted regular assessments and evaluations, managing and optimizing cloud architecture to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards.
Implemented security measures and compliance standards across cloud network environments base on enterprise security requirements, provided guidance to stakeholders, and recommended improvements.
GS 14: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 13 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Conducted research and performed testing on various cloud networks or applications and made recommendations to management regarding results and potential solutions.
Serve as technical lead of projects including design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure.
Designed and implemented cloud-based solutions that meet enterprise security requirements and are resistant to failure.
Desired Skills
Desired skills are NOT mandatory and will NOT be utilized to minimally qualify applicants.
Desired Skills are:
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and/or Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator
RedHat Operating System Management: growing disks, managing log rotate, kernel updates, OS update management, service account management, user management
Bash / Python / Perl Scripting
Ansible Automation Platform and Configuration Management for Linux
Education
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for SE as follows:
Degrees must be in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operationsresearch, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
GS 11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
Education cannot be substituted for SE at the GS 12, 13, or 14 grade levels.
