The Program Specialist position is responsible for general administration of Radiology / Radiation Oncology with final authority resting with the Administrative Officer of Radiology Service, and the Radiology Service Line Chief. Incumbent has administrative responsibility for coordinating and managing the delivery of Imagining services and Radiation Therapy services for the Radiology / Radiation Oncology Department.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Develops and updates internal standard operating procedures, regulations and policies
Compiles and prepares a wide variety of continuous narrative reports from maintained records
Performs clerical forms for section personnel and credentialing
Maintains and tracks internal and external correspondence
Adhere to Information Security and confidentiality of sensitive information
Addresses all employee and public relations matters.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday; subject to change depending on the needs of the agency.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/06/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or functions related to office administration; knowledge of pertinent laws, VA regulations, and Medical Center policies and procedures; knowledge of Radiology / Radiation Oncology major issues, policies, goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations and requirements; knowledge and skill in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity; skill in conducting detailed analyses of complex functions and work processes; skill in utilizing typical office computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email/calendar contact application); knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents that affect the use of the Radiology program and related support resources. Knowledge of imaging issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the service.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR a LL.B. or J.D., if related. This education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Note: TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION PACKAGE.

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience as shown above. Applicants with Superior Academic Achievement on their Bachelor's Degree may use all graduate level education when combining education and experience to qualify for this position. NOTE: Both the Bachelor's and Graduate Degree Transcripts must be submitted with the application package. Otherwise, ONLY Graduate education in excess of the first full year may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required; light lifting.
