About the Position: Serves as Supervisor, providing technical and administrative supervision to civilian and military employees assigned to the Branch. Incumbent utilizes the efforts of lead Health System Specialists to manage the program and complete the mission.

Duties
Coordinates evaluation appointments; schedules follow-up appointments for National Guard and Reserve Component (RC) personnel for approved line of duty (LOD) related injuries.
Assists in preparing appeals, rebuttals, and coordinates the assignment of Soldier’s legal counsel.
Provides information and advice on rights and benefits of uniformed services personnel, retired permanently or temporarily, or discharged for physical disabilities with or without severance pay, and their options.
Advises Soldier of the necessity of obtaining sufficient documentation (medical and non-medical) concerning the Soldier's ability to perform military duties and the severity of the Soldier's disease or injury.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- Incumbent must successfully complete the 6I-F4/340-F3 Training and Certification Course within 180 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
- Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling, data collection, medical coordination, and procedural work related to Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) processing and Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) reevaluations. Oversee work to be performed thru subordinate lead specialists of a staff of two or more, sets and adjust priorities, and oversee work of multi-sections/units for completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
