Duties
You will determine the eligibility of persons to occupy a National Security sensitive position, based on current security concerns related to suitability for employment.
You will ensure that required security clearance determinations are met through Central Verification System, or reciprocally accepting and verifying non-DoD Agencies' background investigations and final adjudications.
You will review requests for security clearances, evaluating the sensitivity classification of the position by applying need-to-know principles and pertinent security guidelines, reviewing and evaluating background investigation reports.
You will conduct and review fingerprint results to determine the security eligibility of individuals for access to sensitive information, material, resources, or work areas.
You will design and conduct other Security-related briefings, including the in-person, annual Security refresher briefing for the entire command and other educational security presentations.
You will organize, effectively communicate, and coordinate changes in the Personnel Security Program (PSP), as related to work requirements within personnel security and the impact of those changes on administrative functions within the Agency.
You will provide advice and counselor instruction on administrative and work matters, ensure PII documentation is protected, and ensure records no longer needed are appropriately destroyed based on activities records management requirements.
You will ensure classified information shall be appropriately labeled, stored, and protected in accordance with activities Information Security regulations.
You will conduct an annual Personnel Security Program self-inspection, site assists (Government and Industry), and inspection of other field activities with the Inspector General, covering both Personnel Security and Counterintelligence.
You will review incoming sensitive/PII documentation, determine who should review them based on content and need-to-know, set up appointments and brief new personnel for security indoctrinations.
You will save indoctrination documents, upload documents and build profiles in DISS and NBIS, grant security clearances, track interim/temporary clearances to completion of final adjudication to grant final clearances.
You will request investigations as required by the sensitivity of the position in relation to national security.
You will suspend, revoke, deny, or the investigation should be expanded or initiated to meet investigation type and continuous evaluation recertification timeliness requirements.
You will be responsible for any refinements, updates, additions, or deletions along with meeting necessary changes in world situations to routinely make recommendations to the Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist and the Director of Security.
You will develop and implement policies and procedures for the personnel security program within the command, review requests for security clearances, afford rights to due process through hearings and appeals when necessary.
You will request investigations as required by the sensitivity of the position in relation to national security.
You will evaluate any derogatory information and decide, based on the Adjudicative Guidelines, whether security clearances will be granted.
You will suspend, revoke, deny, or the investigation should be expanded or initiated to meet investigation type and continuous evaluation recertification timeliness requirements.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- The incumbent must meet DoD requirements for Security Fundamentals Professional certification under the CDSE Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program, within first two years of employment.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or NH-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: verify, review and determine security clearance eligibilities for personnel,and conduct personnel training briefs.
