About the Position: Serve as an Human Resources Assistant (Military) for the Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division at Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
In this position you will work in the Military Personnel Division, Directorate of Human Resources as a Human Resources Assistant.
Responsible for the maintenance of military personnel records.
Ensures that the force maintains deployment readiness by working with installation leadership to ensure that Solider information is accurate and up to date.
Reviews incoming regulations and directives relating to administration and military programs, functions, and procedures, determines impact on current operations, and keeps the Director informed on pertinent changes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of occasional travel.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: to qualify at the GS-05 grade level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Processing all personnel actions with supervision; 2) Preparing documents such as correspondence, letters, and statistical reports with supervisor input; and 3) Reviews records with to ensure all of the Soldiers information is accurate and work is then reviewed for accuracy from the supervisor.
Specialized experience: to qualify at the GS-06 grade level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Processing all personnel actions with assistance if necessary; 2) Preparing documents such as correspondence, letters, and statistical reports with supervisor input if necessary; and 3) Reviews records with assistance to ensure all of the Soldiers information is accurate.
Specialized experience: to qualify at the GS-07 grade level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:1) Processing all personnel actions; 2) Preparing documents such as correspondence, letters, and statistical reports; and 3) Reviews records to ensure all of the Soldiers information is accurate.

For GS-05 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
For GS-06 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
For GS-07 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
GS-05: Education may be substituted for specialized experience with 4 years of education above high school. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.)
GS-06: You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
GS-07: You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Combination of education and specialized experience:
GS-05: A combination of education and specialized experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.Then divide your semester hour of undergraduate education in excess of 2 years by 60. Add the 2 percentages. Note: For the purpose of qualifications, 1 full year of undergraduate education is equivalent to 30 semester hours. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.)
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
