The Visual Information Specialist position is located in Land and Water Conservation Fund ProgramDivision.
This position will work develop original designs, concepts, or visual styles for publications, exhibits, web content or presentation materials using aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, etc.
Duties
The major duties of the Visual Information Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop original designs, concepts, visual styles for publications, web content presentation materials using aspects of visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, and charts.
Facilitate in a collaborative approach with program staff the concept, goals and objectives of the visual information needed for a particular work product.
Develop and implement an agreed upon work plans for each project and assignment.
Manage files and data systems of photographs and other drawings, illustrations, charts and products so these items can be easily searched, found, utilize and evolved.
Develop and maintain digital media, websites, videos, publications and ensure 508 compliance.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/11/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. You must meet one of the following Basic Requirements in order to be eligible for this position: Visual Information Specialist, 1084-Series Basic Requirements:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- outdoor recreation planning or a related field such as: sociology, forestry, landscape architecture, economics, biological science, park administration, earth science, natural resource management and conservation, civil engineering, urban planning, or recreation. Applicants who qualify on the basis of graduate work in related disciplines must have one or more courses in outdoor recreation. -OR-
Experience that demonstrated the ability to plan and coordinate the use of land, water, and related resources for recreation and conservation purposes. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Ability to deal with people of differing backgrounds and behavioral patterns; Analysis and evaluation of outdoor recreation interests, habits, and needs of diversified groups, and the means for meeting those needs; Evaluation of land or water areas for their recreation and related potential use, such as wildlife reserve; Preparation or review of plans and programs for natural resource utilization and recreation area development; and Solution of administrative, intergovernmental, socioeconomic, and other problems involved in providing adequate recreation opportunities while preserving, restoring, and enhancing the quality of the outdoor environment.

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1. Assists with planning original visual treatment for printed and digital products; 2. Implements a planning process that translate broad concepts into the design feature of communication products; 3. Facilitates a process that plans, designs, and organizes information using graphic elements; 4. Collaborates and works with subject matter experts, editors, and staff; 5. Facilitates and manages printing production and contracts. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION : Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related. You must include transcripts. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
