You will serve as a Technician in the Non-Destruction Evaluation Branch (R35), Test and Evaluation Division (R3) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.
The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equal to the GS-11/12. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equal to the GS-13/14.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $153,354).
Duties
You will provide Level III radiographic over-sight and function as a Subject Matter Expert for Nondestructive Testing to the command as needed.
You will provide over-sight to radiographic operations with little to no technical supervision, unless from more senior Level III certified personnel.
You will ensure all requirements of the NDT Quality requirements are met.
You will develop procedures and technical documents.
You will provide formal class room training as well as informal mentoring to more junior personnel, to include administering exams.
You will independently perform product inspection and acceptance.
You will work with machines producing non-ionizing radiation (X-rays).
You will utilize Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) Certification from the American Society of Non-destructive Testing to operate X-ray machines.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the NT-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering procedures to provide technical oversight of radiographic testing equipment or operations (e.g. calibrating, repairing, replacing, modifying) for explosive or hazardous materials for an ordnance program.
For the NT-04:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing work involving calibrating, testing, repairing, replacing, or modifying equipment related to hazardous or explosive materials for an organization
