You will serve as a SECURITY OFFICER in the Capability Development Branch at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center of NSMWDC DET DAHLGREN.

Duties

You will serve as the primary source of expertise for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP) security matters You will be the authority for security related policy and procedural management You will maintain a system to control investigations, access levels and SCI material You will conduct reviews of personnel security information You will complete physical security investigations You will provide corrective actions when security deficiencies are discovered You will provide personnel, physical, and information security support for Fleet, theater, CNO, National and Department of Defense level SAP briefings and conferences. You will develop, implement, administer, monitor and update command SCI policies to ensure compliance You will attend seminars, trainings, and planning conferences that detail changes in security practices and procedures You will ensure physical security standards are established and maintained You will ensure security education, training and awareness programs meet specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

FOR GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-12, or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience providing security management, training, and administrative expertise for the implementation of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP).
