About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee about 45 miles northwest of Nashville.
Duties
Visit project sites, taking physical dimensions, and determining conformance with established criteria and standards.
Utilize computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software to create project designs.
Assure the samples of materials and equipment received meet the requirements needed to be used for the projects (e.g. grade, composition, dimensions, consistency, value or other characteristics as submittals).
Maintain continual contact with participants in projects (e.g. requesters, agency representatives at various managerial levels, etc.) to ensure project stays on track.
Plans, determines, and create (writes) detailed narrative descriptions (scope of work) for project requirements, i.e., design feasibility, cost variables/estimates, economic maintenance aspects.

- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements.
- This position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Must have a valid state drivers license.
- Must be willing to report/or work in inclement weather.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing construction design plans for projects based on standards and regulations such as maintenance or construction; 2) Using computer aided drafting and design programs and estimating software packages to assist in preparing plans and specifications for contract scopes; Or 3) Coordinate and monitor construction operations after the award for various activities i.e., Contract Officer's Representative, customer, etc, to avoid undue interruption of work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition
