You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/ GEOPHYSICIST in the ACOUSTICS DEPARTMENT
of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will serve as the principal scientist planning, executing, and completing analyses of military significance characteristics in ocean and littoral environments.
You will prepare environmental acoustic assessments and reconstruction/analysis.
You will acquire, interpret, analyze, and compile data and information from many sources.
You will analyze and interpret oceanographic geophysical and geological data and consider the fidelity and validity of the digital representation of environmental information products.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience processing geophysical and acoustic data to develop, maintain and execute quality control and acoustic and geophysical databases. Experience using collected acoustic data to generate databases and on-demand products and services. Experience resolving unique problems in the collection, storage, and retrieval of digital data. Experience analyzing and interpreting oceanographic, geophysical and acoustic data from survey platforms.

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Geophysics Series 1313
Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).

- Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Oceanography Series 1360
Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

- Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
