Duties
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service (FPS), multiple locations (see above). The primary purpose of this position is as an Intelligence Operations Specialist, the incumbent will determine the need for and write collection manuals and guides, edit requests for intelligence data, perform liaison functions, act as a Technical Advisor within the intelligence community, and determine the distribution of raw intelligence data and finished intelligence reports..
Duties performed:
Conduct studies, prepares reports, and formulates appropriate action regarding problem areas.
Develop and recommend methods to solving analytical problems.
Keep the organization informed of future threats and takes countermeasures against them by gathering data about emerging or existing threats from various sources.
Review processes and evaluates intelligence information from a variety of sources using creative methodology for unusual problems.
Participate in intelligence collection plans and devises new concepts, guides and methodology in solving unprecedented problems and develops experimental approaches and solutions.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following requirements:
GS-12:You must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Utilizing intelligence techniques to develop reports to be communicated to various audiences; 2) Collecting and analyzing intelligence information to produce intelligence materials, and 3) Engaging in intelligence research and analysis.
GS-13:You must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Collecting intelligence information and raw data to produce intelligence reports that convey required facts and findings; 2) Evaluating a variety of sources to produce intelligence guidance; and 3) Engaging in research and analysis for developing intelligence products.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Special Training Requirement: Completion of a recognized training program such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation Intelligence Course, Sherman Kent School of Intelligence Analysis, Department of Homeland Security Basic Intelligence and Threat Analysis Course (BITAC), Mid -level Intelligence and Threat Analysis Course (MITAC) and/or be an Intelligence Community Advance Analyst Program (ICAAP) graduate or other related training that has provided the required skillset.
