You will serve as a AIRSPACE ENCROACHMENT & SUSTAINMENT COORDINATOR in the AC/S G-3/5, Aviation Division of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will Monitor Marine Corps airspace in the MCIWEST-Camp Pendleton Area of Responsibility (AOR) and maintain Special Use Airspace (SUA). You will Assist in the preparation of the Regional Airspace Plan. You will Assist in developing airspace proposals and justifications in support of operating forces training space requirements. You will Conduct briefings and lectures to civilian aviation groups, airport authorities, and other aviation interests within the region. You will Serve as the Aviation Division encroachment subject matter expert AND provide technical expertise on all DON airspace and air installation encroachment and sustainment concerns. You will Act as the Aviation Division representative for SUA, airspace encroachment and all aviation related issues.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate or have previous designation as a Naval Aviator.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of air traffic control and the FAA operational structure; Knowledge of functions and organizational components of the DoD airspace management structure sufficient to make appropriate and efficient liaison for ATC, airspace and range issues; Knowledge of naval aviation manned and unmanned assets and capabilities in relation to naval aviation requirements within SUA and all airspace required to meet current and future mission requirements.
