You will serve as an FREIGHT RATE/ INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the LOGISTICS SUPPORT DIVISION of the ORDNANCE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH.
Duties
You will provide logistics services and support to the Fleet and other customers by coordinating with Commander, Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT), Commander Naval Southwest Region, and other customers.
You will secure all transportations on and off base, generating all required documentation.
You will receive, review and monitor incoming requisitions.
You will determine most efficient and economical rates and routes for the movement of freight.
You will review magazine utilization to determine storage for upcoming materials.
You will be responsible for preparation of government bills of lading (GBLs), shipping documents, and various transportation documents.
You will prepare and sign certification for shipments of explosives and hazardous material.
You will be responsible for planning shipments segregated according to destination, required delivery date, and compatibility restrictions.
You will monitor and execute station detention charges, maintain logs of trucks arrival and departure, and assign delivery appointment dates for commercial carriers.
You will perform technical review of freight charges the automated system.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to be trained and have Transportation of Hazardous Materials Certification in accordance with NAVSEA SW020-AG-SAF-010 Para 1.5.
Qualifications
GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing supply and inventory plans for an ordnance program to coordinate the transportation and maintain records of the receipt, issue, storage, segregation, or reconciliation of ordnance inventory.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
