About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Division at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia. Duties include preparing food for carts, inventory of food items, restocking items during sales, relieving other food service workers for breaks. Rotating shift work is required. Working hours are from 0500-1330 or 1000-1830.

Duties

Load dispensers or refrigerators with cold food and/or beverages to ensure cool temperature when served. Maneuver boxes of produce and ingredients across dining room or preparation areas. Follow established rules and safety guidelines for accident and injury avoidance. Set up trays for serving or further preparation of food items. Clean spaces under and behind kitchen equipment, including moving the equipment, washing floors and walls with powered equipment. Portion food items such as gelatins, juices, and desserts, into standard serving sizes.

• Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
• Must wear a uniform.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a kitchen and Class I ration storage area that is considered hot and humidcaused by cooking and dishwashing equipment. The area is well lighted, noisy from food serviceactivities and the employee is subject to slips or falls on floors. Also works in relatively cool areasdepending upon the daily tasking. There is exposure to cuts, bruises, scrapes and burns while working in an area where cooking is performed. The employee is required to wear protective shoes, appropriate hearing protection, and gloves or other safety and food handling items required by foodhandling guides.
