About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Division at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia. The primary purpose is to lead others, assemble and load trays, checking for completeness, portion accuracy and attractiveness, and adhering to patient's prescribed diet. Skill in measuring ingredients and following recipe directions for special feedings is required.

Duties

Serve as working leader of 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. Pass instructions on to other workers received from supervisor, and start work, e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led. Ensure that needed instructions, food and cleaning supplies, equipment and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. See to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy. Check work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Work along with other workers, setting the pace and performing non-supervisory work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) may be required for this position.
  • Requires frequent lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting up to 44 pounds.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make ever attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • A uniform is required.

I have the ability to perform common duties such as: passing on to other workers instructions received from the supervisor. I can assemble patient trays in a manner that makes them appealing to patients; assemble all food items required for regular diets; prepare attractive garnishes for patient trays; check tray-line for accuracy and compliance with diet orders; assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used; exposed to dirt, grease and water in cleaning tasks; exposed to extremes in temperature when removing supplies from walk-in refrigerators. Wears safety shoes and other protective items as required.
