You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Quality Assurance (QA) Department of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.
Duties
You will analyze quality indicators to determine trends that would necessitate corrective actions in Shipyard processes and procedures.
You will review and analyze the Contractor's inspection/quality program and development of procedures, instructions, and checklists necessary for monitoring and evaluating Contractor's quality program.
You will coordinate on-site reviews of the Contractor's quality programs for compliance with appropriate contract and specification requirements.
You will analyze and determine the adequacy of Contractor's inspection/quality programs by ways of procedures review, and evaluation of Contractor and SUPSHIP quality data evaluation.
You will compute data, summarize results, and prepare reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods.
You will investigate customer complaints and deficiency reports, and provide identification of causes to appropriate authorities.
You will plan, develop, organize, administer, evaluate, and maintain a comprehensive Contract Administration Quality Assurance Program (CAQAP) for conformity to contract requirements.
You will participate in training for QA Department and other concerned SUPSHIP Departments and Military (Nucleus Crew) personnel.
You will function as the quality authority in the disciplines of shipbuilding, including, but not limited to: Hull, Mechanical, Electrical/Combat Systems.
You will conduct analysis of feedback information on the corrective action program and inspection program to evaluate the Contractor's compliance to its own written procedures and contractual requirements.
You will investigate areas where the Contractor's inspection system is suspected of being inadequate for the purpose of isolating the cause and make recommendations for remedial action.
You will assist other SUPSHIP Departments in all areas of quality requirements.
You will participate in planning, developing, monitoring, and evaluating the overall assurance-engineering program for the division.
You will negotiate and coordinate complex issues pertaining to Quality Assurance for manufacture and repair of complex components and systems.
You will participate in implementing and coordinating "closed loop" system to assure conformance to contractual requirements.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing quality assurance inspections, assessments, reviews, audits, or surveillance to ensure compliance with established quality controls for the design, maintenance, modernization, overhaul, or construction of surface ships or submarines.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- successful completion an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled; -OR-
- a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
