You will serve as a Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist (SHIPBUILDING) in the SUPSHIP Gulf Coast Quality Assurance Division of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Duties

You will plan, direct, and provide quality assurance (QA) surveillance management in all shipyards and contracts under the purview of SUPSHIP Gulf Coast. You will perform malfunction investigation actions, including plans to accomplish close-out and implement findings. You will coordinate and provide assistance with other directorates and higher headquarters. You will plan, direct, organize, and accomplish quality program reviews and audits at both contractors and subcontractor installations. You will advise Command senior leadership, Command staff and other command departments on critical QA technical matters. You will plan overall work operations, set priorities and establish objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring the surveillance division carries out all requirements of process evaluation in all shipyard and contracts under the purview of SHIPSHIP Gulf Coast. You will monitor metrics and take appropriate actions based on test and inspection results to find the underlying quality issue. You will evaluate the effectiveness of operations supervised in terms of mission accomplishment, quality and quantity standards, procedural, polity and regulatory compliance, and technical competence. You will provide advice, counsel, and instructions to accomplish the assignments.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (GS-13 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing a quality assurance program to ensure compliance with established quality control requirements, specifications, or contract terms and conditions for shipbuilding projects, or the maintenance, modernization, overhaul, or repair of naval surface ships or submarines.
