About the Position: Serves as full deputy to Director of Treatment Programs, Military Correctional Complex (MCC), consisting of the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB) and Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility (JRCF). Duties

As Deputy Director of Treatment Programs, shares in the responsibility for the Behavior Health Care Operations of the MCC, which provides assessment, rehabilitation programs and mental health intervention. Assist in the administrative oversight of the Health Clinic, Dental Clinic, and personnel who dispense medication. Oversee the developing, managing, and delivering of rehabilitation programs to include crime specific treatment and self-growth treatment. Oversee the developing, managing, and delivering of all Mental Health programs to inmates including psychology and psychiatry services. Oversee the management of special needs inmates with individual psychotherapy services. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Explain work requirements, methods and procedures to subordinates. Develop performance standards, rate employees and evaluates subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis prior to entry on duty and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
  • The incumbent of this position will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #9, Conduct Policy.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.07 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability.
  • The work is performed within the secured area of the facility, where the employee must be prepared to defend oneself, or others, against physical attack.
  • The work environment is located within the secured area of the facility, performance of duties requires frequent direct/indirect contact with inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
  • Inmate contacts expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack or disturbances by the inmate population.
  • Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring correctional institution's policies, regulations and procedures for compliance with higher level directives and implementing changes to meet requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
