The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise in integrating all security disciplines into program security efforts to mitigate risks of compromise, unauthorized disclosure or damage to weapon systems, program/system information, and its components. Develops processes and procedures for weapon system specific protection of Controlled Unclassified Information, Classified Information, and Critical Program Information (CPI).

Duties

Plans, organizes, and manages the security activities of assigned programs at contractor and government locations ensuring that all elements of protection complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Administers the physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security programs as applied to assigned activities/systems. Ensures all training is conducted in accordance with appropriate directives and is documented. Administers Program Protection Planning efforts. Identifies and validates mission security needs through evaluation or development of security elements of applicable program. Represents organization with DoD, USAF, HQ AFMC and various Center organizations as well as government customers and contracted organizations.

  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
  • This position is designated as a national security position.
  • This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Telework may be authorized on an ad hoc/situational basis.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Expert in program protection, system security, technology assessment and control, foreign military sales, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 2. Expert ability in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the Center Commander. 3. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 4. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 5. Knowledge of government contractual practices and requirements for development and purchase of USAF acquisition programs and/or supporting programs/projects. Must be familiar with Defense Industrial Base security organization, operations, and management practices.
