About the Position:
Serve as Protocol Officer, staff assistant, and advisor to the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding General, Chief of Staff, and other top management officials in the various aspects of the Command protocol program for the United States Army Aviation Center and Fort Novosel. This includes Public Relations Responsibilities, high-level Event Management, Distinguished Visitor Trip Planning/Management, Conference Planning.
Duties
Serve as the Primary Staff Advisor to the Commanding General on various matters pertaining to protocol, protocol policy formation, visitor activities, ceremonies and conference management for the command group.
Integrate the efforts of each subordinate USAACE command, tenant unit and staff office to achieve an orientation for the visitor in a schedule designed to fit the needs of the visitor, the supporting units/organizations, and the Commanding General.
Maintain direct liaison with Command Group officials, Public Affairs Officer, Directors, national and professional organizations, other military services, state/county/city officials, and private industry.
Responsible to be the subject matter expert on Foreign Relations, Protocol Regulations, Guidance and Guidelines and execute proper Protocol at all times during all aspects of each visit.
Host programs for the Commanding General involving numerous major social activities per year, and overall responsibility for planning and coordinating dedications of streets, buildings, gates and other monuments.
Supervises two Protocol Assistants, temporary and excess military and civilian personnel as assigned, to include a Master Sergeant NCOIC and Protocol NCO.
Plan, organize, schedule, and control various facets of the Protocol Office and Staff.
Requirements

- This position requires to travel up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Coordinate the planning, logistics and execution of official and social functions for distinguished domestic and international visitors. 2) Brief on special plans/procedures pertaining to high-ranking distinguished guests and dignitaries' visits. 3) Maintain a Protocol calendar and reference book of events. 4) Supervise personnel engaged in protocol activities. AND 5) Perform evaluation of subordinates' work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
