About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as a Supv.. HR Spec. (Mil) with the Directorate of Human Resources, MPD, Strength Management Branch at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties

Completes employee performance appraisals/plans, counseling and individual development plans. Performs supervisory personnel management functions for employees in the assigned work area Serves as supervisor and independently processes actions involving unusual or complex procedural or substantive issues Serves as the Chief, Personnel Automation Services, Military Personnel Division, Directorate of Human Resources Establishes workflow and functional assignments and distributes work to meet demands Serves as technical consultant and advisor to the Adjutant General, the general staff, and the directorates on all matters concerning officer, warrant officer, and enlisted Personnel Actions

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Employee must be willing and able to travel in military and commercial aircraft and vehicles.
  • A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing Military Human Resources services (such as, Transition/Retirement DD214 processing, military in/out-processing, issuing military ID cards and processing units/individuals for deployment/redeployment. Experience utilizing automated systems supporting military personnel operations and functions (such as IN&OUT Processing (INOUTPROC), Transition Processing (TRANSPROC), and Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (iPPS-A). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityDecision SupportManaging Human ResourcesTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
