About the Position: This is a permanent position with US Army, Humphreys Engineer Center Support Activity (HECSA), Aviation Program located at Huntsville, Alabama.

Duties

Serves as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) Program Officer. Serves as teacher-mentor to UAS operators for data collection techniques and processing, operating rules in the National Airspace System, and risk management. Examines all aspects of UAS programs and provides a confidential executive summary of survey findings to assist the Commander/Director in identifying and assessing internal and systemic issues for resolution. Collects and analyzes data metrics to assess areas of risk and overall readiness for the USACE UAS program. incumbent is a subject matter expert and principal advisor for the applicability and adherence to FAA and Army airspace rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 10%.
  • Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds, may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing aviation operations, including planning, coordinating, and overseeing flight operations for a large program or organization; 2) Developing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant fight operations; AND 3) Planning and execution of complex aviation missions, coordinating with various stakeholders, including military personnel, civilian agencies, and private contractors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and EvaluatingProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
