About the Position: Position is located at White Sands Test Center, Mission Support Dir, FBR Site Defense Force with duty location of White Sands Missile Range, NM. The Range provides Army, Navy, Air Force, DoD, and other customers with high quality services for experimentation, test, research, assessment, development, and training in support of the Nation. Duties

Serve as the Chief, Site Defense Force (SDF) responsible for oversight and management of the Security Guard workforce and those personnel identified as part of the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP). Identify deficiencies during internal site assessments and collaborates with Physical Security Specialists. Serve as the Certifying Official for PRP personnel assigned to the Site Defense Force (SDF). Prepare responses to inquiries for the Commander and other key management officials within the organization on the SDF workforce PRP posture Oversee and evaluate the implementation of DoD, DA, and ATEC/WSMR regulations, supplements, and other policy at command, installation, and activity levels. Coordinate and assist with Nuclear Surety Reviewing Official (RO) and Certifying Official (CO) training on semi-annual basis. Coordinate technical assistance and training of workforce necessary to complete inspection. Direct, coordinate, and oversee the work utilizing subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • This position may require the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
  • The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Position required initial and annual physical ability test (must pass initial PAT within 30 days of hiring date).
  • The incumbent must comply with all requirements of the current AR 190-56 and of the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) as set forth there-in.
  • Position will require shift work (to include change in work shift as necessary) that may encompass fluctuating tours of duty, evening, nights, weekends, holidays and Overtime.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations incumbent is required to report to work to support mission operations
  • Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 and is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban.
  • Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR and first aid.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NK-02/GS-07).
