This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Major range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as a Supervisory Security Guard for the US Army Installation Command USAG, Directorate of Emergency Services.
Duties
Protect personnel and/or property by enforcing security procedures.
Responsible for the patrolling of restricted and limited access areas.
Determine fitness and grant access to installation.
Apply regulations and guidelines relating to protection and security systems
Plan and coordinate the activities of a guard force shift to ensure maintenance of physical security standards.
Develop training plans based on approved training courses and regulatory requirements.
Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the security guard force such as set employee standards, prepare performance evaluations, administer leave, and recommend promotions and reassignments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entrance on duty, subject to exceptions as required by law.

- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter. And incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training and Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of Domestic Violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- Incumbent must meet and maintain requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with AR 190-56
- This position requires certification in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE).
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
- This position is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 600-85.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
- Incumbent must have or be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position requires rotating shift work or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with federal, state, municipal or private protective organization to include maintaining security measures to protect property; controlling access to restricted areas; managing and directing subordinate personnel for adherence to security regulations and written orders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
