Duties
You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
You will perform work in support of budget analysis and administration (e.g., maintain ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking and arranging funding data).
You will perform work to establish, maintain, correct and close pay accounts for active, reserve or retired armed forces personnel and their annuitants.
You will use software applications (e.g., Microsoft [MS] Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, or similar software) to conduct research, capture data, or create financial reports.
You will examine, verify, maintain, and reconcile accounts and accounting data.
You will prepare and analyze reports from the accounting system using proper accounting codes and classifications.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
GS-05
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector supporting accounting work to examine, verify and maintain accounts and account data.
GS-06
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector preparing and analyzing reports from accounting systems, examining procedures and policies and providing account maintenance and support (i.e., in-processing, out-processing, separating service members, processing adjustments, etc.).

Education
(GS-05):
You may also meet the minimum qualifications through education and/or combination of education and experience by satisfying one of the following:
A. Successfully completed four years of education above high school level
OR
B. Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
