Duties
You will be responsible for account maintenance and accounting support work requiring a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine.
You will verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, prepare and analyze reports.
You will be required to have knowledge of accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications and terminology and the ability to apply various accounting methods and techniques.
You will be responsible for technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which include handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods.
You will review to determine signature authentication, correct processing codes, and may include operation of cash registers.
You will determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees.
You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
You will be required to post, examine, balance, computer, and extract data from records to prepare reports.
Requirements

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
- This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Demonstrating knowledge of policies and procedures of accounting systems, payroll records management, and processing payroll system transactions.
