Duties

You will prepare welding surfaces, secure material, select proper welding surfaces, select proper welding processes and use appropriate technique. You will install, maintain and repair various types of high-pressure oil, gas, and steam systems, heat exchangers, and radiators. You will install and repair water mains, main water valves, check valves, water meters, pressure reducing valves, fire hydrants, sprinklers and fire protection equipment. You will compile with safety standards, regulations, job guides, technical orders, and operating procedures. You will preform preventive maintenance, and assists other crafts personnel as needed to accomplish the assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to discern colors, contrast and depth.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a SCDHEC license to perform asbestos abatement. Selectee will be required to obtain certification to use a respirator.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. Sample Task include: performing pipefitting duties such as installation, modification and repair of high temperature water and high and low pressure steam.
