You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER in the Facilities Maintenance Division, Marine Recruit Depot of MCRD ERR PI SC.
Duties
You will determine proper carpentry tools and material to start the job according to the work order.
You will utilize measuring devices to determine dimensions for construction purposes (i.e., measuring tapes, rulers, squares, and laser sensor devices).
You will prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, shipping, or wire brushing to gain adhesion.
You will apply paint coatings to produce smooth finish on walls, ceilings, and metal structures.
You will construct forms to specifications for floors, walls, curbing, sidewalk, and slabs.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Employee is subject to dust, fumes and toxic odors from paints, thinners, and other chemicals. Temperatures are occasionally excessively hot or excessively cold. Subject to falls from roofs, ladders, etc. High noise hazard may exist, requiring ear protection. Safety glasses, respirators and gloves are required for some portions of the work.
Follows all prescribed safety regulations and ensures work environment is safe and hazard free. Corrects safety discrepancies on the site and brings them to the attention of the supervisor. Ensures all workspaces and equipment are maintained in a clean and safe conditions. Reports all accidents and safety violations to the supervisor on the same day as the incident. Any lapses in safe work habits are infrequent and minor in nature and result of any safety inspection indicate only minor discrepancies with regards to safety related aspects of work performed.
