You will serve as a Maintenance Worker at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, which is dedicated to recruiting the best young men and women possible, training and transforming them and making/sustaining Marines imbued with our core values and the ideal of selfless service to the nation. The duty station is Parris Island, SC.
Duties
You will perform the work of the carpentry and painting trades, as well as other trades.
You will measure, cut, and construct or repair wooden items where appearance may be essential.
You will construct or repair scaffolds, bins, pallets, concrete forms, countertops, and cabinets.
You will install windows and repair doors.
You will prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, chipping, wire brushing, etc.
You will mix, thin, and stir coating materials.
You will apply various coating materials such as lacquers, enamels, epoxies, polyurethane.
You will ensure that finishes meet surface protection requirements, by brushing, rolling, and spraying.
You will rig scaffolding and ladders.
You will inspect and repair training course repairing or replacing safety hazards.
You will replace tires on the bayonet course.
You will perform roof work including replacing shingles and slate, and applying adhesives and hydro stop fabrics and coatings.
You will repair and patch floor and wall tiles, and grout.
You will build forms and pour and finish concrete.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to perform occasional travel.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- You may be required work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- You will be required to work on ladders and scaffolding.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You must obtain and maintain a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control approved certificate as an Asbestos Operations and Maintenance worker.
- You may be exposed to fumes and toxic odors from paints, thinners, and other chemicals.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require you to perform rotating shift work.
