Duties

You will perform technical network analysis to assist end users to successfully utilize products and capabilities needed to carry out communications functions. You will assess trends and find solutions when deficiencies in equipment, networks, or circuit operations are suspected. You will monitor network performance and perform network diagnostics. You will Install, configure, initialize, and/or maintain firewalls to protect the network from intrusions, threats, and compromises.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP-SECRET/SCI clearance.
  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). A pre-employment drug test is required, and the position is subject to random drug testing.
  • Required overnight travel may be as high as 20% of the time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays due to unplanned operations or unique situations.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code of Network Operations Specialist proficiency level Intermediate, Systems Administrator proficiency level Advanced and Vulnerability Assessment Analyst proficiency level Intermediate
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.

Qualifications

You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include Monitoring and evaluating system compliance with IT security requirements. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing network services that support business requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include working with senior IT security specialists on more complex aspects of an IT security program 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include taking immediate action to correct problems and consulting senior specialists when needed. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Assisting in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of a wide area network. Analyzing and defining security requirements for new software applications. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-2210-12. Education

At a minimum, all CES employees in the Professional Work Category require a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Some groups in this category, however, may have a positive education requirement that cannot be replaced with experience, such as a requirement for a particular type or level of an academic degree.
