You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT (N3) of COMNAVMETOCCOM.
Duties
You will apply expert knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, and practices of meteorology, oceanography and hydrography in operational military applications.
You will translate subject matter expertise across missions, functions, and tasks of Naval Oceanography activities.
You will provide a source of current and predictive Physical Battlespace Awareness data and products to enhance decision superiority across the complete range of military operations.
You will coordinate and manage all future Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) operations, exercises and global force management within multiple Areas of Responsibilities (AORs).
You will develop solutions, manage information, and promote knowledge of METOC programs and training for fleet operations.
You will focus on all USN plans and operations and associated METOC support capabilities and delivery plans.
You will work with the Fleet Oceanographer(s) and liaise with the Combatant Commander (CCMD) staff to facilitate the development of requirements for Naval Oceanography (NO) products and services.
You will propose alternatives and resolve problems involving the maritime environment and naval operations in relevant theater.
You will provide authoritative determinations and findings that improve the ability to provide METOC and Geospatial Information and Services (GI and S) support to the fleet.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of the Department of State (Embassy), Naval Component Commander, and Fleet regulations, and standard operating procedures in relation to Naval Oceanography.
Experience applying knowledge of the Naval Oceanography organization structure, policies, and missions and of how Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) parameters affect tactical naval problems.
Experience applying knowledge of Naval Oceanography capabilities, products and services; and familiarity with Joint and Naval Combatant Commander Command structure to include Joint Task Force and Fleet operations.

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
