About the Position: Serves as a Facilities Laborer and Vehicle Coordinator Officer for Headquarters Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command.
Duties
Performs a variety of basic maintenance and upkeep duties in and around the assigned buildings and facilities.
Performs basic painting and carpentry duties as directed to repair office spaces and common areas.
Responsible for executing repairs on minor issues as they arise in Surface Deployment and Distribution Command buildings to include small drywall repairs, plumbing, paint, light or light assembly replacement.
Conducts additional laborer level tasks in and around the buildings footprint.
Driver operates one or more motor vehicles including (3) 15 passenger vans, (3) pickup trucks, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 10,000 pounds.
Vehicles are driven on the basis of specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules to transport personnel, supplies, or materials.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks including loading, unloading, carrying equipment or material. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent exerts moderately heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds). They frequently lift and carry moderately heavy objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds); and frequently push heavy furniture on dollies, loaded carts, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside and also outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles. Continuous standing, walking, stooping, or lifting is required. May be subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in traffic and inclement weather.
