This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acq Demo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties

This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD), Missile Defense Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as an IT Specialist specializing in network services and operating systems.
This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path.
As a IT Specialist (Network Services/Operating Systems) at the NH-2210-3 broadband level some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as an IT Specialist specializing in network services and operating systems. Performs various assignments, both one time and continuing, related to different aspects of the MDA Information Technology (IT)/IM enterprise networks and systems. Analyzes, identifies, and recommends efficiencies in wide area network infrastructure management.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and interacts with functional users throughout the Agency to identify specific and unique user requirements for wide area network access and specified IT services.
Conducts surveys and studies to determine computer hardware, software, telecommunications, and network requirements to address current and future IT needs. Makes recommendations to the supervisor or higher level specialist. Conducts technical analyses of systems to determine the nature of requirements, logical work and information flows, and whether advancements in IT are feasible and should be incorporated.
Analyzes the varied applications, systems, communications, and cybersecurity requirements to be supported. Identifies conflicts between Agency enterprise standards and the requirements, and recommends solutions to overcome obstacles.
Integrates information technology, transport, systems, and external communications connectivity within physical facilities and infrastructure projects. Collaborates with civil engineering groups to formulate and implement IT requirements within existing or new Agency facilities.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-03 broadband level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Experience with information technology/information management principles, concepts, and methods with corresponding ability to identify, analyze, specify, design, and manage functional and network infrastructure requirements. OR
Experience in architecture and topology of software, hardware, and networks including Local Area Networks (LANs); Wide Area Networks (WANs); telecommunications systems, their components, and associated protocols and standards; and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
