About the Position: As Senior Staff Analyst in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, G8, US Army South (ARSOUTH) responsible for initiating or distributing all cost and business initiatives analysis tasks as well as outsourcing programs.
Duties
Serves as Senior Analyst for various business initiatives. Plans overall work operations, sets priorities and establishes objectives.
Evaluates the effectiveness of operation supervised in terms of mission accomplishment; quality and quantity of standards met, procedural policy and regulatory compliance and technical competence.
Participates in all aspects of the business and productivity improvement initiatives programs as established by Department of the Army.
Identifies the requirement for and recommends implementation of improved business practices within the Command directorates.
Incumbent works independently to solve a variety complex management and cost related problems that arise in the execution and integration of business initiatives and organizational priorities and requirements.
Performs financial analyses of areas with potential problems that cross appropriation, functional, and organizational lines.
Develops project plans outlining the goals and objectives to be achieved and establishes the priorities for their accomplishment.
Prepares business case analyses of specific business initiatives and computation of return on investment, paying particular attention to policy and resource implications affecting ARSOUTH’s annual budget.
As Senior Analyst, prepares and presents Command-wide resource management summary level briefings and resource management functional tutorials.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
- Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFRPart 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in initiating or distributing all cost and business initiatives analysis tasks as well as outsourcing programs; planning overall work operations, setting priorities and establishing objectives; researching potential initiatives and preparing detailed analyses and evaluations; and identifying and defining issues, developing alternative courses of action, and presenting findings and recommendations for support of management control and cost reduction initiatives across the Command.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
