About the Position: Incumbent serves as ARNORTH Assistant Chief of Staff, G8, the principal advisor to the Commander and staff on all matters relating to financial management. Provides overall staff direction and guidance in the development of the Command Budget Estimate (CBE) to HQDA.
Duties
Review programs for feasibility and soundness to ensure optimal use of valuable and scarce resources in support of established missions and priorities.
Reviews/Monitors current year consolidated budget execution, providing direction and guidance in the development of phased obligation plans, annual funding program, allocation requests, overall funding control.
Directs and coordinates the development and execution of Army component manpower, plans, policies, procedures, programs, and standards pertaining to military and civilian manpower within ARNORTH.
Serves as Team Chief for the G8 Cell for the OCP/MCP or Joint Forces Land Component Command (JFLCC) in support of Consequence Management missions as required.
Plans, directs, and administers HQDA and local productivity programs such as Financial Management Improvement, Government Purchase Card Program, Government Travel Card Program, Defense Travel System, and others.
Monitors and reviews intra-/inter-service support agreements.
Plans, reviews, and coordinates, through subordinate personnel, the work of approximately 25 professional and technical personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete, as a pre-condition of employment, a physical examination exam and yearly thereafter.
- Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
- Employees may be required to sign for a government provided cell phone or maintain a working telephone at all times.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), with access to SCI.
- This position requires travel overnight away from home time (TDY) at 25% of the time.
- This position requires to a Financial Management Certification Level 3.
