The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General is currently looking for Inspectors in the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS). As an Inspector, you will conduct inspection operations at various field sites.
This is a Term Appointment - Time limited more than one year but not more than 4 years. The appointment is not permanent and will not give the employee competitive/permanent status.

Requirements

- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- May pay a recruitment incentive to a newly appointed employee. In return, the employee must sign an agreement to fulfill a period of service with the agency of not less than 6 months and not more than 4 years.
Qualifications
You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date (10/28/2024) of this announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: GS-12:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service conducting field work in inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Review and evaluate the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the performance by conducting inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities.
Implement appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective.
Assist the project leader in identifying potential findings and their root cause with recommendations to appropriate officials.
GS-11:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service conducting field work in inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Review and evaluate the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the performance by conducting inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities.
Implement appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective.
Assist the project leader in identifying potential findings and their root cause with recommendations to appropriate officials.
OR
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related.
OR
Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-11 grade level. Percentages will be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
For GS-11 position only: Applicants qualifying with education only will be determined minimally qualified. The education only requirement is as follow: Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related.
