This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy in the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects. As a Inspector, you will manage and conduct inspection operations at various field sites under the OIIS Team Leader, Director, the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for OIIS, and the Assistant Inspector General for OIIS.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

  • Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • May be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 or an Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
  • Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
  • The position is a Drug Testing Designated position and is subject to preemployment and random drug testing.
  • Will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Incumbent may be subject to relocation to another geographic location based on the needs of the organization and mission requirements. A signed Mobility Agreement is required.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:GS-12: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as directing a performance or allegation-based inspection from planning to reporting.Specific work experience must demonstrate the following: Review and evaluate the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the performance by conducting inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities. Utilize appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: General Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance Series 1801 (opm.gov) "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
