The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General is currently looking for a Supervisory Inspector in the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS). Join our professional team of inspectors, investigators, and hotline analysts who help support DOE's mission through performance-based and allegation-based inspections of management issues and administrative allegations.

Duties

The selection of applicant(s) may result in either a temporary promotion or a temporary appointment. Management may extend the not-to-exceed date of position as required legally allowed. As a Supervisory Inspector for the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS), you will be responsible for the following: Ensure inspection staff perform assigned duties in accordance with professional and Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS) standards and procedures. Lead day-to day oversight of multiple teams conducting performance, allegation-based, and other inspections. Ensure team(s) develop findings and recommend changes in programs, operations, and/or resource utilization to resolve problems, provide balanced program operations, and achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Plan work to be accomplished by others, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Distribute and balance workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure mission accomplishment.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

  • Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • May be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 or an Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
  • Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
  • The position is a Drug Testing Designated position and is subject to preemployment and random drug testing.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service providing day-to-day oversight of multiple teams conducting performance and allegation-based inspections. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following: Lead inspection(s) and special project(s) to analyze the objectives, policies, procedures, progress, and resource applications and utilization. Identify management and operational problems, issues, and/or inconsistencies and their root cause in a timely manner to recommend corrective actions to management. Set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work to plan work accomplished by others. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
