This position is located in the Office of Administration, under the Executive Office, United States Trustees Program (USTP). The USTP is a component of the DOJ. The USTP is a nation-wide program responsible for overseeing the administration of bankruptcy cases and private trustees. USTP has broad administrative, regulator, and litigation/enforcement authorities whose mission is to promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system for the benefit of debtors, creditors, and the public.

The incumbent serves as an Equal Opportunity Specialist located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Trustee Program (USTP), Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST) in Washington, D.C. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for Equal Opportunity (EO) and Reasonable Accommodation (RA) processes, policy development, procedure promulgation, and administrative oversight, thereby establishing how such issues and requests are managed.
The duties of this Equal Opportunity Specialist position include but are not limited to:
Providing management advisory services and recommendations on courses of action for Equal Opportunity (EO) and Reasonable Accommodations (AO) to deciding officials.
Providing guidance and advice to co-workers, management officials, and administrative personnel in subordinate organizations, including all field offices for EO/RA requests.
Staying abreast of new or revised laws, regulations, rules, and guidance that impact EO and RA.
Advising senior management of changes.
Making recommendations for implementing change.
Interpreting regulations within the program area, where accepted methods and principles are questioned or challenged.
Negotiating and otherwise resolving unprecedented, broad, difficult, or complex problems.
Identifying and defining discrimination through systematic fact-finding or investigation, analyzing, nature and causes of institutional barriers to equal opportunity.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Equal Opportunity Specialist at (GS-0360-14), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
To qualify for this Equal Opportunity Specialist, GS-0360-14 position:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing guidance on Equal Opportunity (EO) and Reasonable Accommodation (RA) in areas such as program processes, policy and procedure development and administrative oversight.
