Duties
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
Frequently meet with mid- to senior-level health professionals and program directors, as well as program counterparts both within US government and external to the US government.
Assume the lead in managing and analyzing in-country needs, opportunities and resources against CDC program strategic objectives and advise on how best to deliver in-country public health services that reflect international standards and host country policies and regulations for such programs.
Coordinate high-level, collaborative short-term projects with other U.S. Government, international and/or external organizations to meet CDC goals.
Work with assigned countries/regions to formulate program budget and presents and defends resource requirements needed to carry out the office's long-term goals and objectives.
Advise the CDC leadership in the preparation and presentation of long-term M&O projections for the office, with particular focus on appropriate mix of management and operations requirements, cooperative agreement requirements and appropriate human resource requirements.
Coordinate with the Center for Global Health and pertinent CDC divisions and offices to execute cross-cutting activities.
Recommend changes in the allocation and use of resources within the budget to increase the effectiveness and efficiency in achieving CDC country office objectives.
Identify assess cost effectiveness and oversees the application of promising new concepts, mechanisms, methods and systems to meet program goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience:
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include providing management and operations or technical advice by managing public health programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
