You will serve as a Legislative Affairs Specialist of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.
Duties
You will demonstrate knowledge of legislation and congressional relations to advise on legislative processes, Congressional initiatives and the strategy for addressing critical issues with various groups.
You will use on-line services to gather information on defense, military construction and foreign affairs bills/issues, committee actions, congressional hearings and related news articles.
You will research, analyze, and monitor the status of legislation and associated committee reports.
You will work closely with command experts to respond to congressional inquiries, reporting requirements, and briefing requests.
You will act as action officer to coordinate activities for all congressional Delegation/Staff Delegation (CODEL/STAFFDEL) visits within the PACOM theater.
You will support the legislative proposal and legislative appeals processes.
At the GS-11 level you will perform duties as they are assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS 12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing various administrative management functions and legislative research duties. Specialized experience must include most or all of the following: 1) Researching, analyzing, and compiling information concerning various types of legislation such as foreign affairs bills/issues, congressional hearings and related news articles; 2) Maintaining a status report of select bills throughout the legislative process disseminating to appropriate personnel ensuring information is accurate and timely; 3) Participating in coordinating travel arrangements including departure, meetings and briefings, lodging, transportation, social and/or recreational activities, and spouse and family member activities as required and allowed by regulations; 4) Monitoring various legislative meetings/sessions to inform personnel of significant issues or modifications; 5) Establishing and maintaining hard copy and electronic subject matter files on legislative issues/actions.
GS 11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with various administrative functions and legislative research tasks. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Compiling information concerning various types of legislation such as foreign affairs bills/issues, congressional hearings and related news articles; 2) Maintaining hard copy and electronic subject matter files on legislative issues/actions; 3) Assisting with coordinating travel arrangements and social events; 4) Maintaining hard copy and electronic subject matter files on legislative issues/actions; 5) Preparing correspondence to requests for information, information papers, and/or trip books.

Education
For the GS-11: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
Or
LL.M., if related
