You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER DIVISION (CODE 900Q), PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT (CODE 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will collect and analyzing data to establish quality trends
You will conduct internal process/program audits to identify areas in need of improvement
You will conduct investigations of reported component/system failures to determine root causes and preventative actions
You will develop systems which will enhance work quality and product reliability.
You will review/comment on shipyard instructions related to quality assurance policies and program requirements
You will develop/revise work documentation forms and process control procedures to improve conduct reliability.
You will prepare various monthly/quarterly reports such as process quality indicators, and rework identification.
You will develop quality assessments of ship overhauls through work documentation reviews and inputs from cognizant supervisory/management personnel
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience analyzing data to establish quality trends
Experience conducting shop audits to identify and recommend quality improvements to management
Experience conducting interna process/program audits to identify areas in need of improvement
Experience reporting findings or recommendations to appropriate level of management (verbally, formal audit replies, assessments, critiques, etc.)

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successfully completed of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position. 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
