About the Position: The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) directs, coordinates and synchronizes installation garrison operations, training support, protection, mobilization & demobilization, force modernization, operational planning, and security in order to support the Soldiers, Families and Civilians.
Duties
Approves exercise scheduling and conducts pre-exercise execution checks and coordination.
Monitors, evaluates and disseminates information regarding the execution of each phase of each exercise via radar and voice communication systems.
Operates a computer-enhanced console linked to a radar signal tracking display unit to monitor unit movement
Receives and coordinates ground ambulance and/or an air Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC), and military police requests to proper agency for response.
Inputs operational data into Integrated Range Control System (IRCS) to create a visual display of current and scheduled range activities, road closures, road and airspace restrictions
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Enforcing range safety criteria to facilitate the execution of high risk, combat, tactical, ground and combined ground, and air training exercise and maneuvers involving personnel, aircraft, vehicles, weapons, ammunition, artillery and other hazardous explosives or similar hazardous situations in support of training activities; AND 2) Reviewing operational plans to conduct pre-exercise checks, schedules and coordination; AND 3) Monitoring exercises to receive and relay information affecting the continuance and execution of exercises affecting operational plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
