Duties

You will analyze the security requirements of new applications to confirm security measures are within the organization's guidelines. You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned information systems to identify protection needs. You will review program operations to determine the effectiveness of established procedures You will write information assurance (IA) procedures for mitigating security vulnerabilities. You will brief managers on the condition of an organization's information technology (IT) security program.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position and aligns with DOD Manual 8140.03 for specialty area 722 (Information Systems Security Manager) at the intermediate level.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic requirements below, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in monitoring and evaluating systems' compliance with Information Technology (IT) security requirements; 2) Assisting in the implementation of Information Technology (IT) security policies; 3) Assisting in trouble shooting and resolving Information Technology (IT) technical problems; 4) Establishing network access to enable customers to gain local or remote access; 5) Providing information technology assistance to customers. Education

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution

NOTE: The education listed above must be a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or network
