As a Senior Communications Specialist with NASA's Space Operations Mission Directorate, you will serve as a communications expert and implement strategic and executive communications strategies and tactics for the organization. You will be responsible for researching, planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive and integrated strategic communications campaigns to enhance understanding of mission directorate programs among the public and specialized groups and organizations.
Duties
Support NASA’s Space Operations Mission Directorate, responsible for implementing, prioritizing, and integrating strategic and executive communications and employee morale efforts.
Research, plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive and integrated strategic communications campaigns, in coordination with NASA’s Office of Communications, and in alignment with public relations industry best practices.
Use proven project management techniques and innovative communications strategies to enhance understanding of mission directorate programs among the public and specialized groups and organizations.
Ensure the Space Operations associate administrator and other directorate leadership is prepared for public outreach through careful coordination of audience and presentation material, advising on narrative when appropriate.
Provide integrated background information and help prepare Space Operations leadership on how best to incorporate key messages, as well as handle and defend sensitive topics during executive engagements.
Develop, write, review and edit a variety of communications products. Integrates agency themes and messages into all products and ensures technical accuracy.
Remain abreast of complex agency and human spaceflight programs, issues, and developments, as well as maintains effective relationships internally and externally to ensure communications products are technically accurate, relevant and consistent.
Work with teams on communications outreach projects to strengthen human spaceflight programs in the community, or other designated areas.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Implementing strategic communication plans using modern communications philosophies and approaches, including social media;
Building and maintaining relationships with a variety of individuals to build consensus and resolve issues;
Managing or leading cost, schedule, and resources in program management for execution of communication strategies.
