Duties
The CHIPS Program Office (CPO) Environmental Division is responsible for ensuring that the Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) satisfies applicable environmental laws and requirements in connection with activities that receive funding through the CHIPS Incentives Program. The Environmental Division is responsible for issuing environmental review documents, consulting with relevant federal, state, tribal, and local agencies as required or appropriate, and overseeing public involvement in the environmental review of CHIPS Incentives Program proposed actions.
This position will be assigned to provide environmental management and environmental protection expertise and support to the CPO Environmental Division, including planning, administration and oversight of environmental programs, developing and implementing environmental policies and operating guidance, and review of environmental considerations and documentation. Duties may include:
In this position, duties consist of the following:
preparing or supervising preparation of environmental review documents
providing technical assistance for environmental programs and policies
providing program management and coordination for environmental projects and programs.

Qualifications
This position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the (GS-11) level. Specialized experience is defined as: Demonstrate experience as a technical specialist in planning, developing, and implementing Environmental Programming, with a strong understanding of compliance with relevant rules, regulations, federal legislation, and guidelines.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
